The tension that began after the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee continues. The democracy vigil held by CHP deputies and council members in Esenyurt witnessed tense moments again today. "SET UP THE BARRICADES IN THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY"CHP Deputy Chair Yavuzyılmaz, who came to the front of the Esenyurt Municipality building with his party members, stated that Esenyurt is the largest district in Turkey and that its population has reached approximately 1 million according to official records, saying, "There are 662,000 voters here, and our mayor Ahmet Özer, who received the votes of one out of every two voters in Esenyurt, was removed from his position and imprisoned through a trick and fabricated evidence." Yavuzyılmaz expressed, "We will continue our vigil strongly to emphasize that the allegations against Ahmet Özer are false and baseless, and beyond reason, logic, and conscience. We will continue our struggle." CHP Zonguldak Deputy Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, who argued with the police for the CHP members not allowed into the municipality building, said he wanted the barricades set up in Esenyurt to be placed in the Grand National Assembly. Yavuzyılmaz stated, "I say they should set up that barricade in the Grand National Assembly to prevent the terrorist leader from coming out of Imralı and speaking in the Assembly." After his speech, Yavuzyılmaz said that preventing them from entering the municipality building was unlawful. SCUFFLE BROKE OUTFollowing the statement, a brief scuffle occurred between the party members wanting to enter the municipality building and the police. At that moment, a CHP member was heard saying, "You can't hit the deputy." QUESTION TO POLICE: DIDN'T THE MARTYR POLICE OFFICERS EVER CROSS YOUR MIND?After the scuffle, CHP's Yavuzyılmaz wanted to speak to the police again. Yavuzyılmaz addressed the police, saying, "Doesn't it hurt you at all? Is there not even the slightest pain in your heart? When the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahçeli, stands up and says in the Assembly, 'The terrorist leader Öcalan should come out of Imralı, speak at the Assembly podium, and benefit from the right to hope,' don't the martyr police officers and soldiers you have lost ever come to your mind? Are you using your power against us? By fulfilling those orders? And you do not answer even a single question we ask, even if it is in the line of duty. Is this right? Is this law? Is this how you perform your duty?"
