The incident occurred in the Fener neighborhood of the Muratpaşa district. According to the information obtained, E.U. (17), the son of Ümit Uysal, who has been the mayor of the CHP-run Muratpaşa Municipality for three terms, was found shot in the head in the bathroom of their home. Relatives who saw the young man covered in blood took him to a nearby private hospital on their own. E.U. entered the hospital conscious and was taken into surgery. CHP party officials and municipal staff who heard about the incident came to the hospital's emergency room and began to wait. It has been learned that E.U., who was taken into surgery, is not in life-threatening condition and is continuing treatment. Mayor Uysal, who was in Istanbul for a meeting, was reported to have left for Antalya on the first flight as soon as he received the news.

SUICIDE HAS BEEN DETERMINED

On the other hand, the Antalya Police Department issued a written statement regarding the incident. The statement said, "On November 8, 2024, it was observed that news and posts titled 'Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal's son was found shot in the head at home' were made on some social media accounts and press/broadcasting organizations. Upon learning that a person who had been shot in the head was brought to a private hospital in our Muratpaşa district on November 8, 2024, our police department's units conducted investigations and determined that the injured person was E.U.U. and that he had attempted suicide, and it was stated that his treatment is ongoing."

Mayor Uysal also expressed his gratitude on social media to everyone who sent their good wishes and prayers for his son, stating, "He underwent a successful surgery, the next 72 hours are very important. Right now, as a father, I cannot express my feelings. I believe the public will show understanding, and I thank everyone whose heart is with us once again."
