The incident occurred on Reşat Kaya Street in the Beşevler neighborhood of Şemdinli district. According to allegations, Specialist Sergeant Musa Gezer, who works in Istanbul, went to the home where the family of his wife Adilşah Gezer lives, after she left the house some time ago saying she wanted a divorce.
There, the argument between the parties quickly escalated. Drawing the pistol from his waist, Gezer opened fire on his wife Adilşah Gezer, his mother-in-law Habibe Demir, his brother-in-law Gökhan Demir, and his sister-in-law Keve Demir.

In the armed attack, Adilşah Gezer, her mother Habibe Demir, and her siblings Gökhan and Keve Demir died at the scene. Following the attack, Musa Gezer attempted suicide with the same gun. Severely injured, Gezer was taken to the hospital and placed under treatment.

After the autopsy procedures completed at the Van Forensic Medicine Institute, the bodies of the 4 individuals were handed over to their relatives. Following the funeral ceremony held in Şemdinli, Adilşah Gezer, her mother Habibe Demir, and her siblings Gökhan and Keve Demir were buried side by side amid tears. In addition to family relatives, Şemdinli Mayor Fahri Şakar also attended the funeral.
