INVESTIGATION COMPLETEDThe investigation against Nevşin Mengü, who is accused of sharing an interview with Salih Muslim, a leader of the PYD armed terrorist organization with a red notice decision against him, on her social media account on November 14, 2024, has been completed. In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the suspect Nevşin Mengü shared a video on social media in which she interviewed Salih Muslim, the leader of the PYD armed terrorist organization, and that the content of the interview included words and statements that would constitute organization propaganda. IT WAS STATED THAT SHE SPREAD SEPARATIST ACTIVITIESIn the prepared indictment, it was noted that "the suspect Mengü, with her statements that consciously aimed to both legitimize and spread the separatist activities of Salih Muslim, who is the organization's goal, disseminated statements that legitimized the organization's methods involving coercion, violence, or threats, or that would encourage resorting to these methods," and it was recorded that the video was viewed thousands of times. Additionally, the indictment stated that the suspect Mengü did not make any statements praising a person for a crime committed while being present as a host or for a crime she committed. REQUEST FOR UP TO 7 YEARS AND 6 MONTHS IN PRISONIn the prepared indictment, it was requested that the suspect Nevşin Mengü be sentenced to 1 year and 6 months to 7 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization through the press and broadcasting." The trial of the suspect will begin in the coming days at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court.
