Due to a technical malfunction reported in the runway lights at Erzurum Airport, the passenger plane operating the Izmir-Erzurum flight was diverted to Trabzon, while the Erzurum-Izmir flight could not be carried out. Hundreds of passengers suffered grievances due to hours of uncertainty. Passengers were transported by buses between Trabzon and Erzurum.
A passenger plane departing from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Erzurum was unable to land at Erzurum Airport due to a reported malfunction in the runway lights and was redirected to Trabzon Airport.

According to information obtained, the plane, which took off from Izmir at 19:40 and was heading to Erzurum, could not land at the airport upon reaching the city. Based on reports from passengers, the captain announced via an intercom that landing could not be performed due to a malfunction in the runway lights at Erzurum Airport and stated that the plane would be directed to an alternative airport.
The plane safely landed at Trabzon Airport. The 195 passengers on board were kept waiting at Trabzon Airport for a while.
THEY WERE TRANSPORTED TO ERZURUM BY BUSES
Passengers Yeşim Sonay and Murat Alatürk expressed their grievances, saying, "We boarded the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Erzurum flight at 19:40. When we reached Erzurum, the captain announced that landing could not be performed due to a malfunction in the runway lights. We are currently waiting at Trabzon Airport. We expect authorities to show sensitivity to the issue."
Meanwhile, passengers were informed that their transportation to Erzurum would be provided by road.
Passengers at the airport at the same hours, who were set to travel from Erzurum to Izmir, also stated that they experienced grievances due to the cancellation of the flight. It was learned that after the flight was canceled, some passengers were directed to Trabzon Airport by buses. Citizens, who waited at the airport for hours, argued with officials and awaited a resolution to their issues.
