Following the downpour that continued to affect Istanbul, roads in Şile turned into lakes. While the flood caused damage to houses and gardens, a vehicle was also swept away by the waters. In the severe rainfall experienced in the megacity two weeks ago, the region had also been flooded.
Following the heavy downpour that was effective in Istanbul's Şile district, the roads literally turned into a lake. While water also flooded the gardens of some houses, the scene that emerged after the rainfall was captured from the air.
Flooding also occurred in the areas between Ovacık and İmrandere. As floodwaters damaged the roads, pieces of trees, stones, and mud that broke off from the forested area blocked some roads to traffic.
VEHICLE SWEPT AWAY
Mustafa Aslantürk, who lives in the area affected by the flood, said that his boss's vehicle was swept by floodwaters from where it was and carried to another point, and that their house's balcony and interior also suffered major damage. Stating that no one was in the vehicle, Aslantürk said there was no loss of life in the incident, but the damage was extensive.
WATERS COVERED GARDENS LIKE A STREAM
Yavuz Özyarık, whose house and garden were damaged in the area, said that floodwaters covered his garden like a stream, the corn storage was destroyed, and his house became uninhabitable. Noting that his 76-year-old mother was alone at home during the incident, Özyarık said that Highway and fire brigade teams took his mother out of the house.
SOME ROADS CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
Hüseyin Manav also stated that after the rainfall, stones breaking off from the forested area were dragged onto the roads and transportation was disrupted on some routes. Explaining that while coming from Tekke they had to take a detour via Yeniköy because the road was closed, Manav said that about two kilometers ahead, a vehicle had been swept into a stream and turned on its side.
It was observed that floodwaters caused damage to the road and its surroundings in the area, and some roads were covered with stones, mud, and pieces of trees.
