KILLED HIS WIFE AND INFORMED HIS SON The incident occurred on the night of August 23, 2024, in the Çınarlı neighborhood of the Süleymanpaşa district. A dispute broke out between Hasan Dim, who owns a raw meatball shop in the city, and Elif Dim, the mother of their two children who works as a factory worker, while the children were not at home. During the argument, Hasan Dim beat his wife Elif Dim to death. After leaving the house, Hasan Dim went to the coffeehouse in the neighborhood where his son A.E.D. (17) was working and said, "I killed your mother," before leaving.
When his son returned home, he found his mother motionless and reported the situation to the police. Upon examination by the police and medical teams, it was determined that Elif Dim had lost her life. An autopsy conducted at the Tekirdağ Forensic Medicine Institute revealed that Elif Dim had been killed by beating.
CAUGHT 3 DAYS LATER Hasan Dim, who fled after the incident and was wanted everywhere by security forces, was seen in the rural Karacakılavuz neighborhood three days later. The Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) stopped Dim, who was trying to escape on a motorcycle, and asked him to surrender. Dim, who got off the motorcycle, pressed a knife to his throat and said, "Don't come near, I will cut myself and die." After about 10 minutes of persuasion by the JASAT teams, Dim dropped the knife and surrendered.
"SENT THREATENING AND ABUSIVE MESSAGES TO HIS WIFE" The Tekirdağ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested an aggravated life sentence for Hasan Dim in the indictment it prepared, charging him with 'deliberately killing a close relative.' The indictment stated that Elif Dim had an argument after seeing messages on her husband's phone with another woman, and it was noted that Dim sent threatening and abusive messages to his wife.
"STRUCK WITH THE IRON MULTIPLE TIMES" The indictment included the following statements: "He struck the victim multiple times on the head with his hands and the iron inside the house, took the victim to the bathroom of the house, and caused her death by beating her there. Although the suspect claimed in his defense that he only slapped her twice and did not intend to kill her; according to the autopsy report, there were severe signs of beating on the victim's face and head, an iron with a broken handle and blood stains was found at the scene, and the scene was messy. Despite the suspect stating that he immediately called 112 when the victim did not wake up, it was evaluated that he acted with the intent to kill, considering that he left the house and dropped his son A.E.D. at home at 20:40, and the fact that the suspect sent a threatening message to the victim around 16:44 indicates that he carried out his actions with premeditation. Thus, it is understood from the camera footage, image examination report, autopsy report, statements, and the entire file that the suspect committed the crime of 'deliberately killing a close relative.'
"THE BOTTOM PART OF THE IRON WAS ALREADY BROKEN" The trial of Hasan Dim continued today with the third hearing at the Tekirdağ 4th High Criminal Court. The hearing was attended by the detained defendant Hasan Dim, the father of the deceased Elif Dim, Mustafa Yörük, her mother Nurgül Yörük, the lawyers of both parties, and a lawyer from the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
Defendant Dim stated that he did not accept the charges against him, saying, "I did not kill my wife deliberately. I am very sorry for this incident. Yes, everyone has lost something, but I lost my other half, with whom I shared 18 years. I did not kill my wife with the iron. The bottom part of the iron was already broken; I know this, and everyone living in that house knows it too. I picked up the iron from the floor and placed it on the nightstand.
