In the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, the blooming of about 10 apple trees in mid-August surprised the residents. The garden owner and the locals attributed the situation to climate change, while experts stated that such abnormal flowering could be caused by temperature fluctuations and irregular rainfall.
In Şanlıurfa, one of the hottest provinces in Turkey, an extraordinary natural event was observed in August, which has seen the highest temperatures in recent years. Approximately 10 apple trees in a garden located in the Dicle neighborhood of the Siverek district bloomed again during the fruit season.
CITIZENS ARE ASTONISHED
While other apple trees in the garden were seen bearing fruit, the blooming trees caught the attention of the citizens. In the face of this unusual situation attributed to climate change and global warming, citizens could not hide their astonishment.
"IT DISTURBED ME"
The garden owner, Şeyhmus Al, stated that he watched the event with astonishment, saying, "I have 10 apple trees in my vineyard. Normally, apple trees should bear fruit in August, but mine have bloomed now, and I am in shock. I usually take care of my garden, but the fact that the trees are blooming now has disturbed me. Some say it's due to climate change, but I don't understand. I hope these flowers will bear fruit, and we will eat our apples," he said.
"A VERY STRANGE SITUATION"
Residents who saw the blooming apple trees expressed, "Seeing apple trees bloom in the middle of summer is a very strange situation. In the past, seasons were clear, but now everything has changed. At this rate, we won't know what grows in which season," they said.
Experts state that the blooming of fruit trees at the wrong time may be related to temperature fluctuations and irregular rainfall due to climate change.
