Previously unseen archival documents, manuscripts, first-edition works, and personal typewriter of Sezai Karakoç met art lovers for the first time in the exhibition "Words Dedicated to Time." Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that with the exhibition, they aim to make visible not only Karakoç's literary legacy but also the intellectual and civilizational journey shaped around the idea of "Resurrection."
The "Words Dedicated to Time" exhibition, which comprehensively examines the multifaceted intellectual, artistic, and civilizational vision of Sezai Karakoç, one of the most powerful figures in Turkish thought and literary world, has opened its doors to visitors at Rami Library.
In the exhibition prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, numerous special works reflecting the great master's literary heritage meet art lovers, while Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited the exhibition and received information about the archival materials on display.
Within the scope of the "Words Dedicated to Time" exhibition, special works reflecting Sezai Karakoç's literary and intellectual heritage, archival documents, and calligraphy selections will be open to art lovers until June 22.
A JOURNEY INTO KARAKOÇ'S WORLD OF THOUGHT
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that Sezai Karakoç left a multifaceted literary heritage extending not only through his poems but also from stories to theatrical works, from analyses to essays and intellectual writings, describing him as a figure who "took note of every path to be in communion with people and even humanity; leaving explanations, answers, and sometimes questions."
Drawing attention to the devastation of World War II on humanity and the crises of the modern world, Ersoy noted that Sezai Karakoç confronted these processes, did not deny them, and derived a powerful hope from all these crises.
Minister Ersoy stated that Karakoç "embarked on the struggle of Resurrection where people saw and accepted decline."
TO UNDERSTAND KARAKOÇ, ONE MUST KNOW HIS STRUGGLE
Emphasizing that Sezai Karakoç's world of thought is not a structure that can be understood in a short time, Ersoy said that to understand the great master, one must know his struggle, the values he defended, and his life well.
In his speech, Minister Ersoy also touched on Karakoç's poem "Snow" and said: "You will understand this poem of mine / When you understand this poem, you will understand me / When you understand me, you will understand everything." Stating that this special address serves as an important advice for understanding Sezai Karakoç, Ersoy pointed to the importance of reading and internalizing both Karakoç's works and the set of national, spiritual, and human values shaped around the idea of "Resurrection."
SPECIAL DOCUMENTS EXHIBITED FOR THE FIRST TIME ATTRACT ATTENTION
Stating that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism prepared the "Words Dedicated to Time" exhibition with this awareness, Minister Ersoy said that the General Directorate of Libraries and Publications organized a comprehensive cultural and artistic event aimed at making Sezai Karakoç's world of thought, literary heritage, and cultural impact visible through different layers.
Sharing the details of the exhibition, Ersoy noted that it includes first editions of Sezai Karakoç's works published in different periods, various issues of the Diriliş magazine, and various documents and materials of archival value that have not been shared with the public before.
Ersoy said, "Among the materials exhibited for the first time are a notebook containing handwritten draft texts, a wet-signed document written to Bosnia-Herzegovina President Alija Izetbegović in 1992 in his capacity as the Chairman of the Resurrection Party, the image and description of the Plevna Medal presented to his grandfather Hüseyin Efendi, and Sezai Karakoç's personal typewriter."
KARAKOÇ'S WORDS TURN INTO WORKS OF ART
Ersoy stated that the exhibition also includes a total of 30 special calligraphy selections prepared by calligrapher Sabahattin Nayır, inspired by Sezai Karakoç's poems, essays, and intellectual texts, adding that the selections bring together words and aesthetics, thought and art on the same ground.
"WE AIMED TO FOLLOW THE TRACES OF A JOURNEY OF IDEA AND CIVILIZATION"
Stating that the "Words Dedicated to Time" exhibition was also prepared to create a special cultural memory space bringing together art and elegance, Minister Ersoy said visitors will have the opportunity to access multifaceted information about Sezai Karakoç and experience the great master's world from different perspectives through the exhibition.
Ersoy noted that they aimed not only to present a biographical or literary narrative but also to enable "following the traces of a journey of idea and civilization," expressing their desire to reunite young generations with Sezai Karakoç's intellectual legacy shaped around the idea of "Resurrection."
Minister Ersoy said they aimed to offer visitors "an opportunity to rethink meaning, truth, morality, and civilization" in the face of the crises of the modern world. Concluding his speech by commemorating Sezai Karakoç with mercy, respect, and gratitude, Minister Ersoy thanked everyone who contributed and provided support. Ersoy ended his speech with Sezai Karakoç's words: "My nation! The power to say stop to East and West is you. The day you know yourself, you will be saved. And you will save all of humanity."
