The Senior Communications Officer of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Gaza, Louise Wateridge, stated that the people of Gaza are in a desperate situation due to the widespread destruction, forced displacement, and fear.
The comments made by Louise Wateridge, the Senior Communications Officer of UNRWA in Gaza, after her visit to Gaza were shared on the UN's X account.
Wateridge used the expression "It is possible to hear the bombardment from the northern, central, and southern parts of Gaza. The people of Gaza are desperate in the face of widespread destruction, forced displacement, and fear."
The UN official evaluated the situation in the Gaza Strip as getting worse day by day.
In the attacks carried out by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7th, at least 15,694 Palestinians, including 10,279 women and 37,765 children, have been killed and 86,429 people have been injured.
While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, hospitals and educational institutions where people take shelter are also targeted, causing destruction to civilian infrastructure.
