According to the latest assessments made by the Meteorology, snowfall is expected today in Erzincan, Ardahan, Sivas, Kayseri, and Yozgat.

According to the data from the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), it is predicted that the Black Sea region, as well as the areas around Erzincan, Ardahan, and Sivas, and the north and east of Kayseri and the east of Yozgat will experience snowfall. It is expected that the precipitation will be heavy along the Black Sea coasts. On the other hand, it is predicted that the wind will blow strongly from the north in the inland areas of the Mediterranean, and from the west and northwest in the Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts, in the form of a short-term storm.

WARNING FOR AVALANCHE DANGER

MGM reported that there is a risk of frost, fog, and mist throughout the country, especially strong in the northern, inland, and eastern regions, and that there is an avalanche danger in the high areas of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the steep slopes of Eastern Anatolia. MGM warned citizens about the potential negative impacts that could arise from heavy snowfall, strong winds, avalanche danger, and icing events.

ISTANBUL FROZE

Meanwhile, while the Altay Snowstorm that lasted for 5 days in Istanbul was still ongoing, the temperature dropped below 0 degrees to -5 degrees at night, causing a layer of ice to cover the windows and bodywork of vehicles. Salt spreading operations continued throughout the night to mitigate the risk of icing on the roads.
