The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) made a statement regarding the Şakir Paşa family series, which stars Fırat Tanış and has been the center of discussions since its release. The Şakir Paşa family series, which faced penalties due to the relationship between the father-in-law and the daughter-in-law, was halted by a court decision.
Şahin made a statement on his social media account regarding the decision of the Istanbul 10th Civil Court to halt the broadcast of the current episodes of the series "Şakir Paşa Ailesi: Mucizeler ve Skandallar" aired on NOW TV and the filming of new episodes.
ATTENTION TO INAPPROPRIATE SCENES
Stating that the series imposes severe penalties due to scenes that are contrary to the national and spiritual values of society, general morality, and the protection of the family, Şahin noted that honor and dignity are personal values possessed by every individual in social life.
Şahin pointed out that attacks on individuals' honor and dignity can sometimes occur in writing and sometimes manifest through behaviors.
STOPPED BY COURT DECISION
Reminding that the laws impose significant responsibilities on RTÜK in cases where such verbal and written attacks targeting individuals' honor and dignity occur through radio and television broadcasts, Şahin stated, "It should be noted that especially in television broadcasts, the presence of both words and images together further increases the impact of the attack on dignity. It is known that due to the high likelihood of repeated violations of personal rights occurring through radio and television broadcasts, even if the attack has ended, a presumption has been established in the doctrine that its effects will continue."
RTÜK President Şahin stated:
"In this context, Article 6 of Law No. 6112 on 'Establishment and Broadcasting Services of Radio and Television' includes the provision that 'The content and broadcasting of media services cannot be intervened in advance, and the content of broadcasts cannot be audited in advance.' Additionally, Article 138 of the Constitution titled 'Independence of the Courts' states that 'Legislative and executive bodies and the administration must comply with court decisions; these bodies and the administration cannot change court decisions in any way or delay their implementation.' It is a constitutional obligation in terms of the hierarchy of norms for our Supreme Board to take action in accordance with the mentioned court decision, and in case of violation, the relevant issue will be evaluated within the framework of the broadcasting service principles regulated in Article 8 of Law No. 6112."
WILL NOT BE BROADCAST THIS WEEK
The NOW series Şakir Paşa Ailesi: Mucizeler ve Skandallar will not be aired this week due to the notification of the precautionary decision obtained by Şakir Paşa's grandchildren Joanne Aliye Noonan Kutup, Diana Deniz Noonan, Ömer Derya Kabaağaçlı, Sibel Kabaağaçlı, Murat Can Önce, and Cem Noonan to the channel. The re-broadcasts of the series have also been canceled by court order.
