Two pitbull dogs, known as a banned breed, attacked their owner and another person at a car wash in Esenyurt. After the intervention of nearby citizens, two individuals who were rescued with difficulty were taken to the hospital for treatment, while the aggressive dogs were taken to a shelter run by the municipality.
Two pitbull dogs being cared for at a car wash located in the Çınar neighborhood of Esenyurt district in Istanbul attacked their owner and a friend who was with him for an unknown reason.
CITIZENS RESCUED THEM Two people rescued from the dog attack with the help of citizens were taken to the hospital after the intervention of the medical teams that arrived at the scene.
AGGRESSIVE PITBULLS TAKEN TO SHELTER After the horrific incident, the two aggressive pitbull dogs were taken to the shelter by the teams of the Esenyurt Municipality Veterinary Services. Police teams that arrived at the scene upon notification initiated an investigation.
"PEOPLE THERE CAN'T GET UP IN THEIR OWN BLOOD" Arif Kıraç, a resident of the neighborhood who rushed to help upon noticing the citizens being attacked by the dogs, said, "I live here. When I went out to the balcony in the morning, I heard a noise. As soon as I heard it, I ran downstairs. At first, we couldn't get inside. When a couple of friends came, we were 3-4 people and we intervened. Two pitbull dogs had cornered both the owner and his friend inside. We barely separated them with shovels and sticks. We even threw meat at them. They didn't go for the meat we threw. It was hard to separate them. The red-colored dog had grabbed the man's nose. The other one was holding his legs. We pulled the friends out by dragging them. There are people's lives at stake here. We go in, and people say, 'Don't harm the dogs.' We are not harming the dogs. People there can't get up in their own blood. We dragged the men out of the mud. I say again, it is forbidden to keep these dogs here. They should not be kept here. There are children in the open area of the workplace. There is a school right next to here. There are schools on our right and left," he said.
"THEY WERE ATTACKING CHILDREN ON THEIR WAY TO SCHOOL" Neighborhood resident Yılmaz Ceylan stated, "The dogs attacked the owners in the parking lot here. We said it many times, but they didn't understand. They were attacking children on their way to school. They should remove these dogs from here. Is it good that they attacked their own owners now?"
"I AM AFRAID WHEN GOING TO GET BREAD" Ege Mevlüt Ceylan expressed that he couldn't pass through the street because he was afraid of the dogs while going to school and to get bread, saying, "One time, one of them barked at me. I ran back out of fear. I am always afraid when going to get bread. There used to be 4-5 of them here, but now there are only two left."
