The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has exposed a brand producing fraudulent olive oil. Inspections revealed the use of seed oil and food coloring in 14 brands. So, how can fake olive oil be identified? Bilal Teymur, the Business Development Manager of olive oil producer Arnas Agro, warned consumers to prefer reliable producers.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to disclose companies that engage in imitation and adulteration in its inspections aimed at ensuring food safety. The most recently updated list includes brands that stand out particularly in the olive oil category. Inspections revealed that some products contained seed oils and food coloring.
FRAUDULENT BRANDS EXPOSED As a result of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's latest inspections, serious violations were detected in 14 different olive oil brands. Particularly, situations threatening human health emerged, such as the mixing of different seed oils with olive oil and the use of coloring agents.

Emphasizing that consumers should prefer olive oils produced by reliable brands and that are certified, Teymur stated that consumers should carefully examine the packaging and label information of the products they purchase.

In addition, taste is also an important determinant. Quality olive oil leaves a slightly bitter and burning taste, creating a mild burning sensation in the throat. This natural burning sensation comes from the beneficial components in the oil and is a sign of a quality product."
Finally, emphasizing that being a conscious consumer is necessary to reach real olive oil, Bilal Teymur warned consumers to prefer reliable producers and to prioritize quality while shopping.
