The Ministry of Family and Social Services filed a criminal complaint against social media influencer Ersan Daymont, who announced that he would put the socks he wore in the Fenerbahçe-Liverpool match up for sale and donate the proceeds to children under state protection. The Ministry stated that they do not accept children being used as tools for personal image work and requested that the post be removed and access to it be blocked. It was also announced that the foundation to which the donation was made is not affiliated with the Ministry.

Social media personality Ersan Daymont, who drew attention with a sock post during the Fenerbahçe-Liverpool match, has been the subject of a criminal complaint by the Ministry of Family and Social Services. While watching the match, Daymont showed the socks he was wearing, saying "I am doing a totem," and after the goal announced that he would put these socks up for sale and donate the proceeds to children under state protection. In its written statement dated November 5, 2026, the Ministry stated that the post in question was unacceptable.

HARSH REACTION FROM THE MINISTRY TO THE SOCK POST

The Ministry of Family and Social Services issued a written public statement after social media personality E.D. announced that he would put up for sale the socks he wore during a football match and donate the proceeds to children under state protection.

In the Ministry's statement, it was said: "Associating our children under state protection with the proceeds from the sale of used socks and presenting this process as a show by tagging our Ministry's official social media accounts is unacceptable under any circumstances."

CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST ERSAN DAYMONT

The Ministry announced that a legal process had been initiated due to the post in question. The statement noted that a criminal complaint was filed with a request that it be evaluated within the scope of the offense of "publicly degrading the Turkish Republic State" regulated in Article 301/1 of the Turkish Criminal Code No. 5237.

It was also announced that an application was made for the removal of the post and the blocking of access.

THE FOUNDATION DONATED TO IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE MINISTRY

In the Ministry's statement, attention was also drawn to an important detail regarding the foundation named as the recipient in the receipt shared by Daymont. It was emphasized that the foundation in question is not an institution within the Ministry but a civil society organization with a separate legal personality.

The statement said: "Presenting a donation made to this foundation as a donation made to our Ministry or to the children under our Ministry's care and protection creates a false perception in the public."

"WE WILL NOT ALLOW OUR CHILDREN TO BE USED AS TOOLS FOR PERSONAL IMAGE WORK"

At the end of its statement, the Ministry stated that necessary steps would be taken against children under state protection being used as tools for personal image and perception work.

The statement used the following expressions: "Our Ministry will resolutely continue to take all necessary legal and administrative measures against any attempt to use our children as tools for personal image and perception work or to discredit our state's care and protection services."

The full statement of the Ministry of Family and Social Services is as follows: "Following social media personality E.D.'s announcement that he would put up for sale the socks he wore during a football match and donate the proceeds to children under state protection, it was deemed necessary to make the following statement.

Associating our children under state protection with the proceeds from the sale of used socks and presenting this process as a show by tagging our Ministry's official social media accounts is unacceptable under any circumstances.

Our Ministry has filed a criminal complaint with a request that the social media post in question be evaluated within the scope of the offense of "publicly degrading the Turkish Republic State" regulated in Article 301/1 of Law No. 5237; furthermore, the removal and blocking of the content have been requested.

Furthermore, the foundation named as the recipient in the receipt shared by the person in question is not an institution within our Ministry but a civil society organization with a separate legal personality. Presenting a donation made to this foundation as a donation made to our Ministry or to the children under our Ministry's care and protection creates a false perception in the public.

Our Ministry will resolutely continue to take all necessary legal and administrative measures against any attempt to use our children as tools for personal image and perception work or to discredit our state's care and protection services."
