A wave of recalls has begun in the automotive sector in the United States, causing a significant stir. Mazda, Toyota, and Mercedes-Benz are recalling a total of 150,000 vehicles due to software defects. According to statements made by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), critical software errors detected in the vehicles pose safety risks.

WHY WERE THEY RECALLED?

While Mazda is recalling 77,670 vehicles, it stated that there is a software defect that could cause airbags to deploy with excessive force. Toyota will recall more than 42,000 vehicles. In another statement from NHTSA, an issue with the braking system of certain Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid model vehicles was highlighted. Mercedes-Benz is also recalling 27,190 vehicles due to concerns that the engine control unit software could affect steering capability, leading to overheating and engine shutdown.

UPDATES WILL BE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE

All three brands will provide software updates free of charge. Vehicle owners need to take their vehicles to dealerships to have these updates performed.
