While armed opposition groups in Syria overthrew the 61-year-old Baath regime in just 12 days without even engaging in conflict, the images coming from the region continue to make a significant impact. During the opposition's advance towards the capital, Damascus, footage has emerged showing soldiers loyal to the Assad regime throwing down their uniforms and walking in civilian clothes on the Homs-Damascus highway.
On November 27, Wednesday, armed opposition groups that launched an operation against Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria captured many cities without even engaging in conflict, and this was followed by the takeover of the capital, Damascus.
ASSAD FLED TO RUSSIA
With this move by the opposition, which overthrew the 61-year-old Ba'ath regime in just 12 days, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad also fled the country and sought refuge in Russia.
THEY TOOK OFF THEIR UNIFORMS AND CONTINUED AS CIVILIANS
With Assad's escape from the country and the fall of the regime, soldiers belonging to the Syrian army also began to abandon their positions. Footage circulated from the region showed moments of soldiers loyal to the Assad regime throwing their uniforms on the ground and walking on the Homs-Damascus road in civilian clothes.
