The military cargo plane that crashed near the Georgian border has led to the martyrdom of Pilot Lieutenant Colonel Gökhan Korkmaz, who was laid to rest on his final journey. The 13-year-old son of the martyr, who attended the funeral in his father's uniform, bid farewell to his father by embracing the coffin and shedding tears.

On November 11, 20 personnel were martyred in the military cargo plane of the Turkish Armed Forces, a C-130 type, which took off from Azerbaijan to Turkey and crashed in Georgia. The martyrs, later brought to Ankara, were sent to the cities where they would be buried after the completion of the procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institution, with a ceremony held at the Mürted Air Base Command. The martyr's body was later brought to the Büyükçekmece Kuba Mosque, where a funeral ceremony was held. During the ceremony, father Kadir Korkmaz, mother Rabia Korkmaz, and wife Burcu Korkmaz received condolences. The martyr's 13-year-old son, Doruk Korkmaz, participated in the ceremony with his father's clothes.

MARTYR KORKMAZ WAS FAREWELLED ON HIS LAST JOURNEY



After the funeral prayer performed following the noon prayer, the body of Martyr Lieutenant Colonel Korkmaz was carried on shoulders and placed in the gun carriage, while his comrades placed carnations on the martyr's coffin.



The martyr's body was buried in the Büyükçekmece Old Cemetery with prayers.
