On November 11, 20 personnel were martyred in the military cargo plane of the Turkish Armed Forces, a C-130 type, which took off from Azerbaijan to Turkey and crashed in Georgia. During the ceremony, father Kadir Korkmaz, mother Rabia Korkmaz, and wife Burcu Korkmaz received condolences. The martyr's 13-year-old son, Doruk Korkmaz, participated in the ceremony with his father's clothes.
Attending the ceremony were the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız, AK Party Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu, deputies from various parties, and many citizens.
MARTYR KORKMAZ WAS FAREWELLED ON HIS LAST JOURNEY
After the funeral prayer performed following the noon prayer, the body of Martyr Lieutenant Colonel Korkmaz was carried on shoulders and placed in the gun carriage, while his comrades placed carnations on the martyr's coffin.
The martyr's body was buried in the Büyükçekmece Old Cemetery with prayers.

It was learned that Martyr Gökhan Korkmaz, who was married and had a son, had recently been promoted to lieutenant colonel. It was revealed that Korkmaz had gone home on Sunday to celebrate his son's birthday and left home to go on duty after telling his family, "I will be with you on Friday, I will come."
"IT WAS HIS DREAM TO BE A PILOT"
The martyr Gökhan Korkmaz's uncle Aydın Devrim said, "It was his dream to be a pilot. He was a person who worked for this homeland. He was patriotic, loved his country, upheld the Republic, followed Atatürk's principles, and was a child who overcame all kinds of difficulties. We spoke last Sunday on his son's birthday. His son wants to be like him. He is also a diamond. Even if he doesn't become a pilot, he will make airplanes; he is such a smart child."
