ELDERLY WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN HOME
The incident occurred on March 8, in the Çamköy neighborhood of Germencik district. Meryem Akgün was found motionless on the floor of her home by her daughter who came to visit. Upon notification, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the address. In the initial examination by health officials, it was determined that Meryem Akgün had passed away. Following the suspicion that the woman had been a victim of murder due to a blow to the head, gendarmerie teams launched a large-scale investigation.
SON TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
In the investigation conducted by the Germencik Gendarmerie Command and JASAT teams, 348 hours of camera footage was examined, and numerous witnesses were interviewed. The investigations revealed that the murder was committed by the woman's son, İbrahim Akgün (56). İbrahim Akgün was taken into custody on the evening of the same day.
KILLED BY HITTING HER HEAD WITH WOOD
Akgün stated in his testimony that they were in a legal dispute over land with his mother and had not spoken for a long time. He mentioned that on the day of the incident, he was searching for treasure around Yeniköy with a friend, and after a while, he separated from his friend and went to his mother's house. While talking, a dispute arose between them. He confessed to his crime by saying, "I got angry and hit her on the head with the wood that was in the house, and she died."
İbrahim Akgün was arrested by the court he was brought to today at the Germencik Courthouse after a 3-day custody period at the gendarmerie.
