Rahim Ergün, who lives with his mother suffering from Alzheimer's in Aksaray, was left outside for hours because the elderly woman did not recognize him and would not let him in. After trying for a long time to convince his mother but failing, the man was able to enter his home using a fire ladder through the balcony.
A man living with his mother, who has Alzheimer's disease, was left on the street at midnight because his mother did not recognize him. While police and fire crews intervened at the home of the elderly woman who did not open the door, the man entered through the balcony using a fire ladder. However, the elderly woman soon kicked her son out of the house again.
HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SITUATIONS BEFORE
The incident occurred in the Burak Reis Apartment located on Belediye Street in the Dere neighborhood of Aksaray. According to the information obtained, Rahim Ergün (53), who lives with his mother Zarife Ergün (80), who has Alzheimer's, experienced another unpleasant surprise when he returned home at midnight.
His mother did not remember him again and therefore did not open the door. After trying for hours to remind his mother of himself, Ergün reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center when the door did not open. Ergün stated that they sometimes experience similar situations due to his mother's illness.
Upon the notification, police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. The police tried to convince the elderly woman at the door for a while but did not succeed. Then, the fire crews intervened.
REACHED THE BALCONY WITH THE FIRE LADDER
While the police took security measures around, the fire crews reached the balcony of the apartment on the second floor with a ladder truck. However, the elderly woman who went out to the balcony reacted to the intervention of the teams and tried to push them away.
Meanwhile, Rahim Ergün reached the open window of the balcony from the cage of the fire ladder and managed to get inside. However, even though he tried to remind his mother of himself, the elderly woman still did not recognize her son and soon pushed him outside again.
These tragic moments were recorded by nearby citizens with their mobile phone cameras.
AFTER A WHILE, SHE REMEMBERED HER SON
After the incident, police teams entered the house to calm and convince the elderly woman. After a while, Zarife Ergün, who came to herself, remembered her son and let him back into the house. The teams then left the scene after the situation returned to normal.
Describing his situation, Rahim Ergün said, "Since my mother has Alzheimer's disease, she sometimes does not recognize me. She locks the door and does not let me in. She can open the door again after two hours. When she doesn't open it, I call the police and the fire department, and that's how I can get into the house."
