The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, visited the DEM Party as part of his contacts with political parties that have a group in the Assembly. Kurtulmuş was welcomed at the door by the Co-Chairs of the DEM Party, Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan.
THE AGENDA INCLUDED THE COMMISSION REPORT AND THE "TERROR-FREE TURKEY" PROCESS
During the meeting, the completed report of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, and the legal regulations planned within this scope were discussed. The parties evaluated the common points and differing opinions in the report.
KURTULMUŞ: TURKEY WILL OVERCOME THIS ISSUE
In a statement after the meeting, Kurtulmuş emphasized that Turkey is determined to leave this issue behind, stating, "Turkey will leave this issue behind, it will never go back. We are very close to a solution, and we will do our part. The Commission has successfully fulfilled its historical responsibility, and in the end, Turkish democracy will win," he said.
Kurtulmuş added, "The heaviest issue in our history will be resolved. I thank the DEM Party for their support. In the end, the winner will be Turkish democracy. We will build a Turkey where all 86 million of us live in peace and security. Once again, I wish this report to be beneficial and auspicious," he said.
BAKIRHAN: FOCUS SHOULD BE ON COMMON GROUND
Co-Chair of the DEM Party, Tuncer Bakırhan, stated that while the joint report is important, there are aspects they do not agree with. He expressed that the five political groups have come together on common grounds and emphasized that the common points in the report should be highlighted rather than the differences in opinions.
Bakırhan noted that the resolution of the Kurdish issue is significant not only for today but also for Turkey's future century. He stated that the process should be approached with a long-term perspective rather than day-to-day approaches, highlighting the importance of correctly interpreting past alliances and shared destinies.
"ECHR AND Constitutional Court DECISIONS SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED"
Bakırhan expressed that some practical steps could be taken before legal regulations, arguing that the implementation of ECHR and Constitutional Court decisions, as well as the reinstatement of mayors who were appointed as trustees, would strengthen the climate of peace.
"STEPS SHOULD BE TAKEN DURING RAMADAN"
Pointing out the month of Ramadan, Bakırhan stated that the process should not be postponed, saying that the steps to be taken would create a positive atmosphere in society. Bakırhan also thanked the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Kurtulmuş, for his contributions to the preparation of the commission report.
After the meeting, the parties expressed their wishes for the expansion of common ground and the advancement of the democratic process.
