After a three-day, three-night wedding in the Milas district of Muğla, Mamura Burkhonova, an Uzbek national who allegedly left home with her jewelry, went to the police on her own initiative and gave a statement. Burkhonova admitted to taking 20 quarter gold coins and 226 thousand lira, while claiming that the other gold items were with her father-in-law. The young woman filed a complaint against her husband and father-in-law, alleging that she and her mother were subjected to insults and threats.
Mustafa Ateşoğlu, who lives in the Çomakdağ Kızılağaç neighborhood of Muğla's Milas district, and 28-year-old Mamura Burkhonova, originally from Uzbekistan, met through intermediaries. The engaged couple got married on August 19.
The wedding, held in the neighborhood where Yörük culture is kept alive, lasted three days and three nights. As part of the organization, night oil wrestling events were also held in line with a tradition about 500 years old.
FAMOUS CHIEF WRESTLERS WRESTLED AT THE WEDDING
Recep Kara, Abdullah Güngör, Feyzullah Aktürk, Yalçın Üncül, Bekir Can Özturgut, Cenk İldem, Okan Yavaş, and Salih Erinç participated in the wrestling events at the organization.
Feyzullah Aktürk, who defeated Yalçın Üncül in the final, became the chief wrestler, and his medal was presented by the bride, Mamura Burkhonova.
The total cost of the wedding was claimed to have reached approximately 10 million lira. Mustafa Ateşoğlu stated that he spent 1 million 500 thousand lira only for the wrestling organization, saying, "We filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office. I am not after the money that went. I am after my honor and pride."
THE GROOM WENT TO THE POLICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT
After the wedding, the events between the couple were taken to the police station. On September 3, Mustafa Ateşoğlu applied to the police, claiming that his wife left the house with the jewelry presented at the wedding, cash, and a mobile phone.
While initial statements indicated that the value of the gold, claimed to be missing, was approximately 5 million lira, the police application alleged that approximately 3 million lira worth of jewelry, 300 thousand lira in cash, and an iPhone 15 mobile phone were taken.
POLICE BEGAN SEARCHING FOR THE BRIDE
Following the complaint, police teams started efforts to reach Burkhonova. In the investigations conducted, no bus or hotel records were found in the young woman's name.
However, the course of the incident changed the next day.
SHE WENT TO THE POLICE ON HER OWN
On September 4, at around 13:30, Mamura Burkhonova went to the police station on her own and gave a statement.
Burkhonova denied the accusations that she took millions of lira worth of jewelry. She admitted to taking 20 quarter gold coins and 226 thousand lira from the jewelry presented at the wedding.
"THE OTHER GOLDS ARE WITH MY FATHER-IN-LAW"
Burkhonova argued that the remaining gold was not with her and claimed that the other jewelry was with her father-in-law, Mehmet Ateşoğlu.
The young woman also submitted some correspondence, which she stated supported this claim, to the investigation file.
Burkhonova also argued that the iPhone 15 mobile phone, which was stated to be in her possession, did not belong to her but was given to her for use by her husband.
THIS TIME THE BRIDE FILED A COMPLAINT
Another notable development in Burkhonova's statement was that she also filed a complaint.
The young woman claimed that her husband Mustafa Ateşoğlu and her father-in-law Mehmet Ateşoğlu insulted and threatened her and her mother. Burkhonova filed complaints against her husband and father-in-law with these claims.
Thus, in the incident that started with the fate of millions of lira worth of jewelry, the parties mutually filed complaints against each other.
