Şerife G., the mother of a 9-year-old child who was abused by her stepfather in Kayseri, recounted the events. She explained that while shaking a cover off the window, her husband beat their child on the grounds that personal items, like her cream, had fallen to the floor. She stated that the individual said, "Apply wherever you want. No one can do anything to me." The mother said, "I put my child in the bathroom; his back was completely black. I want my husband to receive the harshest punishment."
The service driver F.G., living in the Mevlana neighborhood of the Kocasinan district of Kayseri, married Şerife G., who has been married twice, three years ago. Mother Şerife G. also took her son M.E.T. from her second marriage with her. It was learned that stepfather F.G. had subjected M.E.T. and his mother Şerife G. to violence at various times. After Şerife G. filed a complaint with the police, a restraining order was issued against stepfather F.G. On the other hand, moments when stepfather F.G. inflicted violence on M.E.T. were recorded by a mobile phone camera. The footage showed F.G. physically assaulting the child, using insults, and the mother trying to protect her child.
"NOBODY CAN DO ANYTHING TO ME," HE SAID
Şerife G. spoke for the first time after the footage was published. Stating that she has been married to F.G. for three years, Şerife G. said: "My husband has inflicted violence on my child from my second marriage for the third time. I couldn't do anything the first time. I remained silent because I didn't see what kind of violence was inflicted. We recorded the second incident on video. I warned him. I said, 'You must never touch my child again.' I told him, 'If I see any bruise on my child, I will report you and have you removed from the house. You must face whatever punishment is necessary.' He told me, 'Your way is clear, go, apply wherever you want. Nobody can do anything to me.'
HE BEAT THE CHILD BECAUSE THE CREAM FELL FROM THE WINDOW
Describing the day of the incident, Şerife G. said, "The last time he came home was on February 9 in the morning. I left for work at 11:50. Before I left for work, I had shaken the covers. While shaking from the window, he had some cream and a couple of personal items. I didn't see them. Then I went to work. After I left, he looked out the window. When he saw the items outside, without asking me or finding out, he called the child. He looked out the window and said, 'Did you throw these things?' He grabbed the child by the collar and pushed him as he was getting off the couch. His back hit the coffee table," she said.
"HIS BACK WAS COMPLETELY BLACK"
Şerife G. said, "I put my child in the bathroom. Just as I was about to turn on the hot water, his back was completely black. I asked, 'What happened, my son?' He didn't say anything. Because he was constantly threatening the child. I called 112 Emergency Call Center. They were very kind and came immediately. Just as the police arrived, my husband ran away. After that, I filed my complaints. A restraining order was issued. From now on, I want my child to receive proper education. I work. My house is rented. I will have bills. There will be needs. I know I won't be able to manage. I am asking for help. He said, 'If you tell your mother about the slightest thing I do to you regarding beatings and violence, I will beat you twice.'” Şerife G. stated that a lawsuit was filed against her husband for the crime of violence based on her complaint, saying, "I request from Turkish justice that my husband receives the heaviest punishment for the violence he inflicted on my child."
