Art historian Prof. Dr. Engin Beksaç stated that the drainage, ventilation, and insulation systems uncovered during excavations at Edirne Palace reveal the advanced level of Ottoman engineering, noting that the infrastructure solutions built centuries ago remain remarkable even today.
Art historian Prof. Dr. Beksaç made evaluations regarding the excavation and restoration works carried out at Edirne Palace.
REVEALING THE ENGINEERING SUCCESS OF ANCESTORS
Beksaç stated that the palace is one of the most important examples of Ottoman engineering and architecture, and emphasized that the works carried out by the National Palaces Administration are of great importance for the preservation of historical heritage. Beksaç said that the infrastructure systems uncovered during the excavation works at Edirne Palace show how advanced Ottoman architecture was not only aesthetically but also in terms of engineering. Noting that the drainage, ventilation, and moisture prevention applications identified in the palace reveal the technical knowledge level of the period, Beksaç expressed that these structures are among the important works that carry the engineering understanding of ancestors to the present day.

Art historian Prof. Dr. Engin Beksaç stated that Edirne Palace has been attempted to be brought to light through excavation and restoration works carried out by different teams for many years, saying, "The subject of Edirne Palace really stands out as a very special structure among the heirlooms of ancestors."

Expressing that they encountered advanced infrastructure applications from the Ottoman period in the excavation works at Edirne Palace, Beksaç said, "As in Edirne Palace, we can always see these infrastructure works not only here but in all other Ottoman structures and great heirlooms of ancestors."
"VENTILATION AND MOISTURE PREVENTION SYSTEMS WERE IDENTIFIED IN EXCAVATIONS"
Emphasizing that wastewater channels, ventilation systems, and moisture prevention applications were uncovered in the excavations carried out at the palace, Beksaç said, "In our studies at Edirne Palace, we encountered not only septic tanks but also various channels built to carry dirty water and wastewater."
"EDIRNE PALACE IS A NATIONAL HERITAGE BEFORE A TOURISTIC ONE FOR US"
Noting that Edirne Palace should be evaluated not only as a touristic structure but as a national and spiritual heritage, Beksaç said, "Edirne Palace is essentially an heirloom of ancestors. That is, before its touristic contribution, it has a spiritual and national value for us."
