A suspect named Mujurizi Moses, accused of killing 38 people and eating his victims' corpses in Uganda between 2010 and 2025, has been arrested. Uganda's Chief of General Staff Muhoozi Kainerugaba described the suspect as "Uganda's worst serial killer and cannibal" and announced that he would be tried publicly and executed. However, the horrifying charges have not yet been finalized by a court decision.

There has been a new development in the serial murder investigations that have been ongoing in Uganda for years. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni and Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces, announced on Monday that Mujurizi Moses, who is alleged to be linked to numerous murders, had been detained by security forces.

ACCUSED OF KILLING 38 PEOPLE IN 15 YEARS

Kainerugaba announced that the suspect is accused of killing 38 people in the Masaka, Ibanda, and Kazo regions of Uganda between 2010 and 2025 and eating his victims' bodies.

After the suspect's capture, Kainerugaba used harsh language, saying, 'I am pleased to inform our citizens that the security forces have captured Mujurizi Moses. The worst serial killer and cannibal in the history of Uganda.'

Kainerugaba also said the suspect would be tried publicly and executed. However, the 38 murder and cannibalism charges have not yet been confirmed by a court ruling.

THEY BROKE THROUGH THE WALLS OF HOUSES AND ENTERED

In past records of the Uganda police, a murder suspect known as Fred Mujulizi, who is stated to have also used the name Kulaish Kamugisha, appears to have been linked to numerous attacks in the Greater Masaka region.

It was reported that wanted notices were published nationwide for the person in question and that his name came up in various murder investigations.

According to investigation files, attackers alleged to be linked to Mujulizi made holes in walls to enter their victims' homes. It was alleged that the suspects then attacked people in the houses with machetes.

However, it has not yet been definitively confirmed that Mujurizi Moses, whose detention was announced, and Fred Mujulizi, named in past investigations, are the same person.

A FAMILY WAS KILLED IN A PASTOR'S HOME

One of the most serious incidents that stood out in the investigations was the attack on the home of Steven Mugambe, a Pentecostal church pastor.

According to allegations, the attackers made a hole in the wall of Mugambe's house, entered, and killed the people inside with machetes.

It was assessed that this attack could be linked to similar murders that occurred in the Greater Masaka region over the years.

Reports were published that up to 35 people were killed in attacks carried out using the same method in the region. However, the number in question was not confirmed by official authorities.

IT WAS CLAIMED THAT HE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN CAUGHT AND RELEASED

In reports in the Ugandan press, it was alleged that the suspect described as Fred Mujulizi had been caught several times in the past but either escaped or was released for various reasons.

It was stated that what happened during this process is disputed, while no definitive information was shared regarding the conditions under which the suspect was released.

On the other hand, some people who said they lost relatives in the murders claimed that the captured suspect was responsible for the deaths of their family members.

Police reported that these people's submissions were being examined within the scope of the investigation.

THE LATEST MURDER ALLEGATION DATES BACK TO SEPTEMBER 28

According to a Uganda Radio Network report dated October 16, 2026, the suspect described as Fred Mujulizi faced murder and human trafficking charges in connection with the killing of a woman in the Greater Masaka region on September 28.

Officials conducting the investigation alleged that the woman was lured with the promise of a romantic relationship and then killed.

It was stated that the possibility that the murder may have been committed for ritual purposes was being considered.
