The nuclear negotiations between Iran and the USA are ongoing. The third round of indirect negotiations, which started at 10:00 local time in Muscat, the capital of Oman, has concluded.
DELEGATIONS RETURNING TO CAPITALS
Iranian state television announced that during the technical-level discussions between the delegations of the two countries, a more detailed stage regarding demands and expectations has been reached, and both delegations will return to their capitals for consultations.
EXPERT NAMES IN THE IRANIAN DELEGATION
Ismail Bekayi, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, stated in a press release to Iranian media during the talks that the Iranian delegation included experts in the fields of nuclear and economy.
Bekayi emphasized that Iran has shown a determined stance in proving that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and in ending the cruel sanctions, stating, "Iran's legitimate rights must be respected in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and guarantees must be provided for the termination of sanctions."
"NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE IN A SERIOUS ATMOSPHERE"
In a separate statement on his social media account, Bekayi noted that the indirect negotiations between Iran and the USA are continuing in a serious atmosphere, and the parties have conveyed their positions and views on the protection of Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy, the effective lifting of sanctions, and the trust-building regarding the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program through Oman.
WHAT DO THE PARTIES WANT?
The negotiations between the USA and Iran are seen as processes aimed first at building mutual trust and then at creating a framework for an agreement regarding Iran's nuclear program. The USA wants Iran to stop the production of highly enriched uranium, which it believes is used for making atomic bombs. Iran, which has always claimed that its nuclear program is peaceful, states that it is ready to "restrict" its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions, while seeking guarantees that the USA will not back down.
It is reported that Iran will not agree to dismantle its uranium enrichment centrifuges, completely halt uranium enrichment, or reduce its stock of enriched uranium below the levels agreed upon in the 2015 agreement.
