On the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory on March 18, an emotional social experiment was conducted in Düzce.
In reference to Seyit Onbaşı, who fought heroically on the Çanakkale front and changed the course of the war by lifting a cannonball, a weight of approximately 200 kilograms was left in Anıtpark Square. Citizens passing by were asked to help lift the weight.
EMOTIONAL MOMENTS WERE EXPERIENCED
Citizens who came to help lift the weight were asked to guess how many kilograms it was. They were reminded that Seyit Onbaşı lifted a 215-kilogram cannonball alone and pushed it to the muzzle during the Çanakkale War.
Citizens expressed that the sacrifice and heroism shown by Seyit Onbaşı changed the course of the war; "May Allah have mercy on Seyit Onbaşı and all our martyrs. It was a war won with the spirit and faith of that era. It is an event that cannot be expressed in words. Normally, it is not a load that a person can lift; one gets emotional, we are very moved right now," they stated.
