H.Y., the Finance Director at the Turkey branch of a Danish packaging company, was arrested and detained along with two accomplices on charges of defrauding the company of 211 million 150 thousand liras. It was revealed that the suspects paid a salary of 200 thousand liras to silence an employee who noticed the situation.
The Danish company, which is known to operate in 130 countries worldwide, had its General Manager L.B. file a complaint stating that H.Y., working as the Finance Director at the Istanbul branch, caused a total loss of 211 million 150 thousand 349 lira to the company through a shell company under the guise of 'consultancy'.
ESTABLISHED A SHELL COMPANY
In the investigation conducted by the Fraud Bureau Office, it was determined that the suspect H.Y. established a consultancy company in the name of a fellow employee at the same company in September 2023 and received payments as if providing services to the firm. It was identified that after a while, H.Y. transferred two-thirds of the shares of the established shell company to himself and continued to harm the company using this method for a long time.
PROVIDED SALARY TO SILENCE THE EMPLOYEE
Police investigations revealed that after an employee within the company noticed the situation, the suspects provided a salary of 200 thousand lira through the consultancy company to prevent this employee from disclosing the matter. Following the collection of evidence, H.Y. (48), along with R.S. (50) and P.A.Ö. (44), were taken into custody.
THEY PREPARED TO GIVE THE SAME STATEMENT
Examinations of the suspects' mobile phones revealed videos and messages in which they described how to give statements if they were caught. It was learned that they planned to escape the crime by giving identical statements in this manner.
THEY WERE ARRESTED
After their procedures at the Public Order Branch Directorate, the 3 suspects were referred to the courthouse and were arrested by the court and sent to prison.
