Seha Okuş, the aunt of Müjdat Gezen and a vocal artist, passed away at the age of 98. Okuş, who had been receiving treatment for a long time, will have her funeral prayer held tomorrow at Zincirlikuyu Mosque.

Seha Okuş, one of the master artists of Turkish Folk Music, passed away at the age of 97.

Seha Okuş, an important voice of Turkish folk music and Yeşilçam, brought deep sorrow to the culture and art community with his passing. Born in 1928, the master artist gained the love of large audiences with works such as "Hasretinle Yandı Gönlüm" and contributed to the music scene for many years through concerts and educational activities with Istanbul Radio.

In a statement made on the social media accounts of the Müjdat Gezen Art Center regarding Okuş's passing, it was stated, "Our pain is great. We are experiencing the great sorrow of losing Seha Okuş, our esteemed artist, a great value of Turkish folk music, and the very precious aunt of our founder Müjdat Gezen. We offer our condolences to all his fans and loved ones and wish them patience."

The funeral prayer of the artist, who had been receiving treatment for a long time and was in intensive care in recent days, will be held tomorrow after the noon prayer at Zincirlikuyu Mosque.

WHO IS SEHA OKUŞ?

Seha Okuş was born on April 7, 1928, in Istanbul. He completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul and graduated from the Turkish Music Department of the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory in 1958. The successful artist took lessons from Münir Nurettin Selçuk, Şefik Gümeriç, Emin Ongan, Halil Bedi Yönetken, Nevzat Atlığ, and Mefharet Yıldırım at the conservatory.

The artist, who worked for 35 years at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and Istanbul Radio, served as the head of the Turkish Folk Music Department and repertoire instructor at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center since 1990.

Okuş, who voiced the music of the films "Dönüş," "Mahpus," "Toprak Ana," "Açlık," and "Kuma," released an album titled "Hasretinle Yandı Gönlüm," consisting of 17 works, published by Kalan Music in 2002.
