In the Gömeç district of Balıkesir, an attacker named Gürkan T., who wanted to consume alcohol on New Year's Eve, launched an armed attack on a restaurant after the owner refused his request for alcoholic beverages. It has emerged that Hasan Durka, who lost his life as a result of the attack, told his friend before being killed, "Let's not lose anyone anymore."
A new video has emerged from the incident in Gömeç district of Balıkesir, where an attacker who requested alcohol from the business owner shot up the venue after receiving a negative response, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to three others, one of whom is in serious condition. The footage captured just seconds before the heinous attack shows the heartbreaking words of Hasan Durka, who was shot in the head while having no connection to the incident.
THE ATTACKER WAS RELEASED UNDER AMNESTY
According to the information obtained, Gürkan T. (42), who was released under amnesty, went to a restaurant on Kızko Beach in Gömeç and requested alcoholic beverages from the venue owner Ahmet E. However, the owner E. responded negatively to this request. After arguing with the venue owner, Gürkan T. left the restaurant and returned two hours later with a rifle, firing indiscriminately as soon as he entered through the door.
DIED AT THE SCENE
In the footage captured by security cameras, after the customers left in the early hours of 2026, T. fired at a table set up by the employees among themselves. The pellets from his rifle hit Hasan Durka (36), who was at the restaurant to help the venue owner, a friend due to the New Year, as well as Zafer A., the venue owner Ahmet E., and an unnamed woman sitting at the table. As the attacker Gürkan T. fled the scene with the rifle, Hasan Durka lost his life at the scene.
THE ATTACKER WAS CAPTURED AFTER A 2-HOUR CHASE
It was learned that Zafer A., who was seriously injured in the incident and is a married father of two, is still fighting for his life in the hospital, while venue owner Ahmet E. and the unnamed woman were discharged after treatment at the hospital. The attacker Gürkan T. was captured by teams from the Gömeç District Gendarmerie Command after a two-hour chase.
"LET'S NOT LOSE ANYONE ANYMORE"
The video recorded just seconds before the murder of Hasan Durka, a beloved young man of the district who was killed in the incident that devastated Gömeç, drew attention with his wishes for the year 2026. In the video taken by his friend, Durka shouted, "May our worst day be like this. May the New Year bring peace and happiness to everyone. Let it be without pain and sorrow. Let's not lose anyone anymore." It was also reflected in the security camera footage that just seconds after he said these words, he was shot by the pellets from Gürkan T.'s rifle as he entered through the restaurant's door.
