MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli compared the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Maduro to the movie Pirates of the Caribbean during his party's weekly group meeting. Bahçeli expressed his reaction by saying, "What the U.S. has done is piracy; the Pirates of the Caribbean movie was made in front of the whole world."
The leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, reacted to the United States' operation against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
"THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN MOVIE HAS TAKEN PLACE IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE WORLD"
In his party's group meeting, Bahçeli stated, "Essentially, international law has long been at the bottom of a trash can. On the second day of the second quarter of the 21st century, an act of piracy, a kidnapping incident, perhaps unprecedented in history, has occurred. The Pirates of the Caribbean movie we watch on the big screen or on television has taken place in front of the whole world. The film set was established in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. I do not condemn the attack against the democratically elected President Maduro; I curse it. This distinction, this moral collapse, this cruelty, this rudeness, this scandalous act is not a right for anyone, nor a privilege for any country. Donald Trump's aim is to seize energy and minerals."
"THE LAW HAS NEVER BEEN SO TRAMPLED ON"
Expressing that Maduro's kidnapping is unacceptable, Bahçeli said, "The Venezuelan example will neither be the first nor the last. However, the planning of a combined attack that begins with intelligence infiltration in the capital of a country, and the forceful removal of a president from his bed at midnight along with his wife, is a case where the law has never been so trampled upon. This is not something that can happen. This is not a situation that can be accepted. In the new tactics of the digital age, a person has been kidnapped, and in the terminology of international literature, a forced transfer of leadership has taken place. Just as barbarian tribes invaded Rome in history, the same has been staged in Caracas on the night of January 2 to January 3."
"THE SIMILARITY WITH THE JULY 15 BETRAYAL IS STRIKING"
Bahçeli continued his remarks as follows:
"The similarity of this extreme and oppressive tableau with the July 15 betrayal experienced in our country is also striking. As I emphasized in a message I sent to a television channel on the evening of January 3, 2026, the military intervention by the United States in Venezuela to unjustly and unlawfully remove President Maduro from power is a known and familiar conspiracy.
In the coup attempt carried out by FETÖ in Turkey on July 15, 2016, while our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was in Marmaris, the method used in the despicable attempt directed against him is identical to the method targeting Maduro today.
The United States, which used a spy and savage organization as a tool against us on July 15, has instead intervened directly in Venezuela.
The FETÖ betrayal, which crashed into the rising will and heroic struggle of our nation, and the midnight coup in Venezuela are products of the same mold, the same project. The only difference is this: One did not sleep and resisted; the other slept and surrendered. We know that the enemy will not sleep in a waterless field. If we sleep, doze off, or fall asleep; do not forget that fleeing to Izmir is inevitable.
"TRUMP'S NEW TARGETS ARE MEXICO, COLOMBIA, PANAMA, CUBA, CANADA, AND GREENLAND"
The issue of Venezuela has collapsed upon the world like an old ruin; it has turned into rubble like multi-story buildings that collapsed after an earthquake. How to cope with this, how to prevent the spark of the third world war, which is being ignited, has become a mystery.
Trump's new targets are Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Cuba, Canada, and Greenland. It is enough to play the three monkeys to not realize that the complete state and legal fractures of the manifested reason and rationality are gradually leading the world to disaster. The issue is neither about narcoterrorism nor about authoritarian states or leaders. It is much deeper, much beyond; it is the high pressure of dominance and sharing violence that is about to explode in various geographies.
Trump's common sense and moral faculties have evaporated. The statement of the President of the United States, "We will manage Venezuela," is a message of seizing energy resources, revealing the decorative dark face of renewed colonialism and restructured imperialist expansionism. The real aim of the United States is to control the flow of energy, to dominate the trade of precious metals and minerals, especially gold; to seize and appropriate what a country has through political, military, and economic fronts that have been breached.
"THE VENEZUELA EXAMPLE HAS PROVIDED INSTRUCTIVE CLUES ABOUT THE VITALITY OF THE INTERNAL FRONT"
Essentially, the whole world is under close threat surveillance. Despite the global blocks that are operating slowly and showing signs of life even if they are wounded, the mechanism of the rules-based international order has now become blocked and has suffered a fatal blow.
It is quite difficult, though not impossible, to reason for the future, to predict, to foresee what will happen tomorrow. The Venezuelan example has also provided us with instructive clues about the vitality and effectiveness of the internal front.
Without direct surrender; without people who have been recruited in state ranks, military and security bureaucracy, political and strategic positions, it is not something that anyone, any opposing force can do to take a country's president from his bed at midnight along with his wife.
Now, is it understood the sincere effort and aim in fortifying our internal front? Now, is it understood our insistence and will for a Turkey without terrorism? Now, is it understood our uncompromising decision and determination to defend unity, integrity, brotherhood, and solidarity? Now, is it understood? We said, "A Kurd who does not love a Turk cannot be a Turk, and a Turk who does not love a Kurd cannot be a Kurd," and we stood with sincerity in our declaration.
"THE IMMUNITY OF HEADS OF STATE HAS BEEN OPENED TO DISCUSSION WORLDWIDE"
My dear friends, the world is in a multi-faceted, multi-actor, multi-unknown, and very dangerous crisis. The United Nations Organization has now lost its credibility, its persuasive ability, and its binding character. Human rights have been ground in the mill of oppression; democracy and freedoms have been sawed in the carpenter's workshop of imperialism. International law has been abruptly pulled down from the suspension it was kept in; it has been drawn into the phase of execution and sacrifice. The immunity of heads of state has been opened to discussion worldwide.
Coming to power through elections and leaving through elections; hiding behind the clichés of democracy has merely turned into an apparatus of positional struggles; beyond that, it has taken on the character of a middle play arranged to satiate and discipline the eye-catching regimes and systems at some point. The global balance has been lost. Geopolitical earthquakes, trade wars, economic operations, political reckonings, diplomatic polarizations, asymmetric and proxy wars have shaken continents and brought countries face to face.
The same high pressure that accumulated and penetrated deeply before the First and Second World Wars, perhaps even more, is currently in circulation on the global stage. The derivative consequences of the unlawful and illegitimate coup in Venezuela will certainly occur. We have transitioned from proxy wars to a period of direct use of force.
Iran is on edge. The streets are boiling. The people are tense. Every possibility is on the agenda.
