Ankara Medipol University issued a statement regarding the allegations that "narcotic substances were found in the vehicle of Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Tolunay and that his driver was detained."
UNIVERSITY DENIES "DRUG" ALLEGATIONS RELATED TO THE RECTOR
In the university's written statement, it was emphasized that the rectorate has no connection to the matter, stating, "Legal proceedings will be initiated against those who distort concrete facts unconsciously and engage in biased and unjust news, committing character assassination."
"HE WAS THE DRIVER OF THE FORMER RECTOR, HE WAS DISMISSED"
The statement emphasized that Rector Tolunay has no connection to the matter, noting: "There has been a need to clarify the news regarding our university's Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Tolunay's official vehicle and driver in some media outlets. Recently, there has been a change in the rectorship, and the person in question, who worked as a driver in the private office of our former rector, was dismissed from his position and terminated with the commencement of our new rector's term. The individual was involved in a crime and was caught at his home, leading to legal action against him.
In the information provided by the security forces, it was stated, 'Y. O. was caught at his residence, and the vehicle with license plate 06 AA 023 was found parked in front of the residence; no criminal evidence was found during the search of the residence and the vehicle.' Nevertheless, all details regarding the process have been shared with the judicial authorities, and developments have been closely monitored. It is unethical and immoral to distort the issue, which has no relation to our university and our Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Tolunay, into news. We inform the public that legal proceedings will be initiated against those who unconsciously distort concrete facts with the intent to cause harm and engage in biased and unjust news, committing character assassination."
