According to a statement from the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, a subsidiary of the Pentagon, the US Department of State has approved billions of dollars worth of new weapon sales to Israel.

WARPLANES, MISSILES, TANKS, AND ARTILLERY AMMUNITION

Additionally, the other packages include 30 medium-range air-to-air missile systems (AMRAAM), over 32,000 tank shells, and other related equipment. Furthermore, the sale of over 50,000 artillery shells and related equipment has been approved as a separate package.

TOTAL VALUE OF THE PACKAGE IS $20.3 BILLION

The package, with a total value of $20.3 billion, was approved during a period of uncertainty in the ceasefire process in Gaza and increased tension in the region. It is not expected that any action to block the arms sale will come from the US Congress.

The approval notification sent to Congress by the US Department of State stated that the sale of weapons will "enhance Israel's ability to counter current and future threats."
