The US military added another operation to its efforts against cartels smuggling drugs by sea. In a statement from the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), it was reported that, on the order of SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan, an attack was carried out on a boat identified as carrying drugs in the Caribbean. The statement emphasized that intelligence obtained confirmed the boat was carrying drugs, and included the phrase, "4 narco-terrorists were killed in the operation."

SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan stated that they continue to conduct precise and lethal strikes against cartels, saying, "We will destroy, dismantle, and defeat these narco-terrorist networks.
