The statement indicated that approval was given for the sale of "Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS-II)" and related equipment to Saudi Arabia valued at $1.96 billion.

It was stated that the package includes not only the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems but also services such as warheads, rocket motors, spare parts, training equipment, and logistical support. The statement noted that the prime contractor will be "BAE Systems, located in Nashua, New Hampshire."

The statement said, "The proposed sale will support US foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of a key non-NATO ally that is a driver of political stability and economic progress in the Gulf region."
