The US press claimed that the Washington administration has prepared a new military plan targeting Iran. According to the allegation, the plan may target Iranian elements and military capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz.
US-based CNN International claimed that the US military has prepared a new war plan targeting Iran's military points in the Strait of Hormuz.
US PREPARES FOR NEW WAR
US President Donald Trump had announced that the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would continue despite the decision to extend the ceasefire until negotiations conclude upon Pakistan's request. US-based CNN International claimed that the US military has prepared a new war plan.
IRAN'S REVOLUTIONARY GUARD BOATS AND SHIPS ARE THE PRIMARY TARGET
The report emphasized that the US has prepared new plans targeting Iran's Strait of Hormuz and its military leaders. It noted that the Pentagon has reviewed various attacks involving Iranian points around the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman. The report stated that the attacks would target assets that help Iran maintain its dominance in the Strait of Hormuz, and among these targets are the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' fleet of fast attack boats and ships used for laying mines.
MILITARY POINTS ALSO AMONG TARGETS
In another plan presented by military officials, the US would target Iranian military leaders believed to hinder the end of the war through negotiations. The report also stated that the US could resume attacks on Iran's remaining military capacity, including its missile stockpiles and launch pads.
CEASEFIRE WAS EXTENDED
After a two-week temporary ceasefire on April 8, following the US-Israel attacks on Iran starting February 28, Tehran and Washington held talks in Pakistan on April 11 for a permanent ceasefire. The talks, lasting about 21 hours, yielded no results.
Efforts to hold a second round of talks under Pakistan's mediation also failed due to disagreements between the parties, including the US naval blockade imposed on Iran.
US President Donald Trump announced two days ago that they had extended the ceasefire. There was no statement from Iran regarding Trump's unilateral decision to extend the ceasefire.
