VIDEO LEAKED ON THE INTERNET CAUSES TROUBLE
The allegations came to light after a video was shared on social media, claiming that Matasi had made a deal to influence the outcome of a league match. In the unverified video, it is alleged that Matasi promised a person that he would have an influence on the match result.
"I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE"
Club owner Cleophas Shimanyula stated in an interview with BBC Sport Africa that he spoke with Matasi, who was surprised when he saw the video. Shimanyula said, "He told me he was not aware of such an incident and could not believe the footage."
FKF: OUR ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY CONTINUES
The Kenya Football Federation stated in a written announcement that a detailed investigation will be conducted in cooperation with FIFA, the African Football Confederation (CAF), and other relevant institutions. The statement included, "We are maintaining our zero tolerance policy against match manipulation. The rights of the player and the club will be respected, and necessary steps will be taken based on the findings obtained."
CLUB STANDS BEHIND THE PLAYER
Kakamega Homeboyz President Shimanyula expressed confidence in his players, stating, "Matasi has played in three matches since joining our club and has not conceded a goal in any of them. These images can be open to misinterpretation. Currently, there is no evidence, and we have not received any official notification from the federation. Until proven guilty, Matasi is innocent and will continue to play."
