The water level in the dams supplying water to Istanbul has reached 75.73%, the highest level in 9 months, following the recent rainfall. The amount of water in the dams has been measured at 653 million cubic meters.

According to the data from the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), the water level in the dams, which was 76.26% in March 2024, has been measured at 75.73% as of today. The water levels are measured at 63.95% in Alibey, 72.71% in Büyükçekmece, 73.37% in Darlık, 92.62% in Elmalı, 95.29% in Istrancalar, 81.98% in Kazandere, 81.2% in Pabuçdere, 56.2% in Sazlıdere, 78.24% in Terkos, and 83.02% in Ömerli. The total water amount in the dams and ponds supplying water to the city is at 653 million 68 thousand cubic meters. The 9-month occupancy rate of the dams was recorded as 69.68% at the end of last June, 58.35% in July, 46.56% in August, 38.39% in September, 31.68% in October, 28.24% in November, 40.23% in December, 52.56% in January, and 74.5% at the end of February.



FILLING RATES OF THE LAST 11 YEARS



According to İSKİ statistics, the filling rates of the dams on March 1 were recorded as 96.25% in 2015, 87.05% in 2016, 87.99% in 2017, 85.3% in 2018, 92.93% in 2019, 63.87% in 2020, 56.71% in 2021, 83.96% in 2022, 35.38% in 2023, and 76.26% in 2024, while the current rate is recorded as 75.73%.



COMPARISON OF DAM FILLING RATES



The filling rate of Alibey Dam, which was 70.87% on March 2, 2024, has dropped to 63.95%. The filling rate of Büyükçekmece Dam, which was 73.26% last year, has been recorded as 72.71% this year. The filling rate of Darlık Dam, which was measured at 88.53% on the same date last year, is now 73.37%. The filling rate of Elmalı Dam, which was 89.38% on March 2, 2024, has been recorded as 92.62% this year. In Istrancalar, the filling rate, which was 47.9% last year, has been measured at 95.29% this year. The filling rate of Kazandere Dam, which was measured at 59.42% on the same date last year, is now 81.98%. The filling rate of Pabuçdere Dam, which was 58.74% on March 2 last year, has been recorded as 81.2% this year. The filling rate of Sazlıdere Dam, which was measured at 56.73% on the same date last year, is now 56.2%. The filling rate of Terkos Dam, which was 73.89% on March 2, 2024, has been recorded as 78.24% this year. The filling rate of Ömerli Dam, which was measured at 87.85% on the same date last year, is now 83.02%.
