CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu stated that the compensation for 8 out of 9 lieutenants expelled from the Turkish Armed Forces will be paid by CHP members of parliament, saying, "Except for one lieutenant, whose father wanted to pay himself, the compensation for all other lieutenants will be paid by our Republican People's Party members of parliament after the payment orders are completed."
CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu held a press conference at the party headquarters in Edirne. CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan, CHP Edirne Provincial Chairman Harika Taybıllı, and other CHP members attended the press conference.
"IT WILL BE PAID BY OUR CHP MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT"
Bağcıoğlu stated at the press conference that the compensation that 9 lieutenants expelled from the Turkish Armed Forces need to pay for their education expenses will be covered by CHP members of parliament. Expressing that the perception that there would be no support from the CHP regarding the payment of their compensation is not correct, Bağcıoğlu noted the following:
"The compensation for 9 lieutenants, as per Mr. Özgür Özel's proposal and group decision, was to be paid by the Republican People's Party members of parliament for the compensations reclaimed by the Armed Forces. One of our lieutenants, with whom I spoke, his father said, 'I will pay.' It is his right as a father; no one can say anything to him. A news report was made saying, 'They are in a very difficult situation, they had to cash in their individual retirement rights.' It was reported as if no support had come from the Republican People's Party. One of our newspapers picked this up, a newspaper we trust, and continued this news. Therefore, except for one of our lieutenants, whose father wanted to pay himself, the compensation for all other lieutenants will be paid by our Republican People's Party members of parliament after the payment orders are completed."
