THE WEATHER IS CHANGING IN ISTANBUL
Although Istanbul starts the new week with mild weather, it is stated that the Marmara Region will be under the influence of a violent storm and heavy rain as of Thursday. According to experts, temperatures will drop sharply in a short time.
THE SOUTH WIND WILL STRENGTHEN AGAIN
While the storm that blew off roofs over the weekend is reducing its impact today, it is expressed that the south wind will strengthen again towards the weekend according to the latest assessments. The wind is expected to increase its effect, especially on Thursday in the Marmara and Aegean regions.
BE CAREFUL ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY
Meteorology expert Dilek Çalışkan stated that there will be a strengthening of the south wind on Thursday, saying, "The weather conditions on Thursday and Friday will challenge us." Çalışkan also mentioned that very heavy rainfall is expected in the Marmara and Aegean regions on Thursday.
WIND MAY REACH 80 KILOMETERS
Çalışkan stated that the wind speed in Istanbul could occasionally reach 80 kilometers per hour. A warning was issued that this situation could lead to disruptions in transportation and daily life.
WHEN WILL IT SNOW IN ISTANBUL?
By Friday, snowfall is expected in the majority of the country. Çalışkan stated that snow is expected in some areas of Istanbul, mentioning that snow will be seen in the Inner Aegean, Western Black Sea, Central Anatolia, and eastern regions. According to the 5-day mapped forecast of the General Directorate of Meteorology, mixed rain and snow are expected in the megacity on Monday.
AKOM'S WARNING OF "MIXED RAIN AND SNOW"
The Disaster Coordination Center of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (AKOM) announced in its weekly weather forecast that mixed rain and snow are expected in the high areas of Istanbul on Friday. AKOM reported that after the violent storm that will be effective on Thursday, precipitation in the high areas could turn into mixed rain and snow on Friday.
In AKOM's statement, it was noted that no serious weather events are expected until Wednesday, except for light local rains, and that temperatures will range between 15-17°C; it was predicted that temperatures would suddenly drop to winter values of 8-10°C as of Thursday, and that heavy rain showers would occur along with the strong storm.
TEMPERATURE DROPS FROM 15 DEGREES TO 6 DEGREES
According to the weekly forecasts of the General Directorate of Meteorology, the air temperature in Istanbul, which is expected to rise to 15 degrees on Wednesday, will drop suddenly by 9 degrees to 6 degrees on Friday.
