While Istanbul experiences the most sweltering days of late, a critical weather warning came from the Meteorology and AKOM that will relieve Istanbulites but require caution. Today's heat, reaching 33 degrees and made suffocating by the weakening of the north wind, will give way to a cool and rainy system coming from the Balkans. With thunderstorms starting on Wednesday, temperatures will gradually drop below seasonal norms.

Istanbul is under a partly and mostly clear sky today, with thermometers showing 33 degrees. As the wind slows down, the air, combined with humidity especially during midday, feels quite oppressive. According to meteorological forecasts, this heat wave will continue to be effective on Tuesday as well.
However, according to the latest data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) and the General Directorate of Meteorology, the weather pattern is completely changing across Istanbul and the Marmara Region starting Wednesday. The cool air wave entering from the Balkans will cool the megacity while also bringing heavy rainfall.

The air temperature, which will be around 32 degrees on Wednesday and start with rain, will plummet on Thursday as the rain intensifies. Temperatures are expected to gradually drop by 7-8 degrees at once, falling to 26 degrees on Thursday and down to 25 degrees on Saturday. Experts state that with this sharp drop, temperatures in Istanbul will briefly fall below seasonal norms.

The rain event starting in Istanbul on Wednesday will continue intermittently on Friday and Saturday. The rainy system will leave the city starting Sunday, and temperatures will rise again.
