After eating cherries picked from a branch in the Tosya district of Kastamonu, Ahmet Derin (63) fell ill, and his wife Rahime Derin (60) also lost her life. While the investigation into the incident continues, claims of pesticide on the cherry tree are being examined.
THEY FELL ILL AFTER EATING CHERRIES
Ahmet Derin and his wife Rahime Derin, residents of the Karabey village in the district, reportedly fell ill after eating cherries from a tree in a relative's garden on July 1. The couple was taken to Tosya State Hospital by health teams who arrived at the scene upon a relative's report, and after initial treatment, they were transferred to Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital. Ahmet Derin could not be saved on the same day despite doctors' efforts.
DIED AFTER HER SPOUSE
Rahime Derin, who continued treatment in intensive care, passed away last evening. The cause of the couple's death will be determined by the autopsy results.
Meanwhile, samples have been taken to determine whether the cherry tree in question was treated with pesticide. The investigation into the incident continues.
