It emerged that Muazzez Bayhan, who went missing last year in Konya, was shot in the head with a pistol and buried in a riverbed by her ex-husband Münür Turhan, who escaped while on leave from prison. A legal brief has been prepared for Münür Turhan, who has over 40 criminal records and a final 22-year prison sentence, on charges of 'Intentional murder'.
It has been revealed that Muazzez Bayhan, who had been missing for 1 year in Konya, was killed by her ex-husband who fled after being released on parole from prison.
EX-HUSBAND TOOK HER FROM HOME The incident occurred on June 27 last year in the Cihanbeyli district. Muazzez Bayhan (43) was taken from her home by her divorced ex-husband Münür Turhan (46), who was out on parole from prison. Her relatives, unable to reach Bayhan, filed a missing person report. Meanwhile, Turhan, who became a fugitive, was caught 3 days later. When asked about his missing ex-wife, Turhan said he had no information. He was sent back to prison.
Muazzez Bayhan BONE FRAGMENTS FOUND A special team was formed under the coordination of Cihanbeyli District Gendarmerie Commander Lieutenant Mehmet Erol, accompanied by the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT). The special team examined all private and public security camera footage in the district. HTS records were also reviewed. The relatives of the missing Bayhan and possible locations were investigated one by one. On September 16, 2025, teams found buried skull and bone fragments partially exposed on the surface near a stream bed in the İnsuyu neighborhood.
DNA SAMPLES TAKEN Considering that the found skull and bone fragments might belong to Bayhan, DNA samples were taken from her family and sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute. Tests determined that the fragments belonged to Bayhan.
KILLED AND BURIED IN A STREAM BED Teams assessed that the murder suspect could be Bayhan's ex-husband Münür Turhan and intensified the investigation in this direction. Teams determined that Turhan took his ex-wife Muazzez Bayhan from her home while drunk, argued with her over 'jealousy,' and took her to the Alibey Plateau in the İnsuyu neighborhood. It was determined that Münür Turhan shot Bayhan in the head with a pistol, placed her body in a vehicle, took it to a stream bed 5 kilometers away, and buried it. It was also determined that the gold necklace Turhan sold to a jeweler after the murder belonged to his murdered ex-wife.
Münür Bayhan INDICTMENT FOR INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE After collecting all evidence, an indictment for 'Intentional homicide' was prepared against Turhan, who has a record of over 40 offenses including 'Theft', 'Assault', 'Sexual harassment', 'Drug use', and a finalized prison sentence of 22 years, for killing his ex-wife Bayhan. It was stated that within the scope of the indictment, Turhan, a convict at Yozgat Closed Penitentiary Institution, will be brought to Konya for legal proceedings.
