Observations shared by a citizen appointed as a civil servant in a municipality regarding indiscipline in public work and the salary scale became a trending topic on social media. The new civil servant, stating that in the directorate where he works, old civil servants cannot be assigned work and everyone spends their time playing games and on YouTube, criticized the system where the lowest salary is 80-90 thousand TL and workers carrying documents earn 130 thousand TL, asking, "How does this country stay standing?"

The observations shared on social media by a newly appointed municipal officer regarding the work environment, productivity, and salary scale caused a wide stir in public opinion. The rookie officer, who said, "The old officers can't be made to work; everyone is spending time on mobile games or YouTube," reacted to the inertia and salary imbalance in the public sector.

As debates continue regarding merit, efficiency, and salary fairness in the public sector, the observations relayed from within by a citizen who stated he was appointed as an officer to a municipality topped social media's agenda. The new officer, listing one by one the daily operations in his own directorate and the work pace of the personnel, drew attention to the excess staff and work indiscipline in the public sector.

"THERE ARE 150 PEOPLE, BUT EVEN IF THERE WERE 30, WORK WOULDN'T STOP"

Emphasizing that the density of personnel in his unit does not match the volume of work, the officer described how working hours pass with these words: "There are about 150 people in my directorate, but believe me, even if there were 30, work still wouldn't stop at all. No one can make the old officers work. The level of work is at rock bottom... Everyone is watching YouTube or playing games on their phones. Work starts at 08:30, but it takes them until 09:30 to grab two pastries and a tea and sit down at the computer."

HIGH SALARIES AND WORKERS "WHO ONLY CARRY DOCUMENTS"

In his post, the newly appointed public official also touched upon the salary scale in the unit and the job descriptions of the personnel working in the worker cadre, stating that the picture astonished him. Stating that the lowest officer salary is in the 80-90 thousand TL band, the employee reported that technicians and engineers receive between 110 thousand and 150 thousand TL. Also opening a parenthesis for the worker cadre in the institution, the officer rebelled with these words: "And then there are the workers; they earn at least 130 thousand TL. Don't get me wrong when I say worker; their only job is to pick up a document from the next desk and drop it off upstairs. I don't understand how this country stays standing."
