Speaking before the Argentina match in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Egypt National Team Head Coach Hossam Hassan made statements about celebrating their victory over Australia by waving the Palestinian flag.
''ANYONE WHO DOESN'T FEEL WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE HUMAN''
In response to a question about whether he would continue his support for the Palestinian people, Hassan said, "No one in the world who doesn't feel what the Palestinian people are going through deserves to be human. In Europe or America, when an animal is harmed, human and animal rights organizations spring into action. Yet, while thousands of people, including women and children, are being killed every day in Gaza, the same sensitivity is not shown. An entire people are forced to live in tents summer and winter."

Hassan drew attention to the humanitarian tragedy faced by Palestinians under Israeli attacks, saying, "While we need air conditioning in summer and heaters in winter, the Palestinian people are trying to survive outdoors, in tents. Children cannot find food to eat, and they are suffering from disease and sleeplessness."

Emphasizing that his stance is entirely based on humanitarian grounds, the Egypt National Team Head Coach continued:
"When there is a flood or storm, everyone finds shelter, but in Gaza and Palestine, there is no safe place for people to take refuge. It is a source of shame that the world and decision-makers have left the Palestinian people alone in this state. On the occasion of the World Cup, I appeal to all athletes from different religions and countries: please send this message to the world: 'Let the Palestinian people live.' Because all they want is just to live."
