In the football betting investigation, the statement procedures of the suspects, including former Galatasaray executive Erden Timur, who was detained, were completed at midnight. The suspects are expected to be transferred to Çağlayan Courthouse.
In the investigation regarding betting allegations in football, the statement procedures of the suspects, including former Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Vice President Erden Timur, who were detained, were completed at the police station by midnight.
NAMES FROM TFF AND EYÜPSPOR IN THE FILE
Among those who provided statements in the investigation are TFF Foreign Relations and National Teams Administrative Director Buğra Cem İmamoğlulları and Eyüpspor Vice President Fatih Kulaksız. It was reported that the statements of some suspects who were detained in cities outside Istanbul and brought to Istanbul were also completed.
TRANSFER TO THE COURT IS EXPECTED
It is expected that all of the suspects in custody will be transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.
HOW DID THE INVESTIGATION START?
In a statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the investigation was conducted based on MASAK data, information obtained from legal betting sites, open-source research, PFDK decisions, HTS analyses, and digital materials seized from previous operations.
The statement also included;
- 6 suspects identified as having placed bets on the Kasımpaşa–Samsunspor match on October 26, 2024,
- 7 suspects evaluated to be in contact with a detained suspect processed in previous operations,
- 14 football players who were reported to have placed bets on "the opponent wins" in their own team's match,
- 1 suspect for whom suspicious financial transactions were detected through bank accounts,
- A total of 29 suspects, including former Galatasaray executive Erden Timur, were reported to have arrest warrants issued.
THE ARREST LIST HAD BEEN ANNOUNCED
It was noted that, as part of the operation, many football players, as well as individuals from different professional groups, were also detained. It was also stated that 1 suspect was in prison for another crime and that efforts were ongoing to capture 2 suspects.
