Istanbul Stock Exchange started the week with a decline of 2.80% in the BIST 100 index, which fell to 9,117.38 points, leading to losses in all sector indices. The banking index was the sector that lost the most value, while the selling pressure in global markets continues to have an impact.
The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul started the week with a decrease of 2.80% at 9,117.38 points. At the opening, the BIST 100 index fell to 9,117.38 points, down 262.45 points and 2.80% compared to the previous close. The banking index lost 3.61% and the holding index lost 2.80%.
THE SECTOR THAT LOST THE MOST IS BANKING
While all sector indices declined, the banking sector experienced the largest loss. In Borsa Istanbul, which followed a selling-oriented trend yesterday, the BIST 100 index ended the day down 1.10% at 9,379.83 points.
In global markets, the selling pressure that emerged after U.S. President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs gained strength and carried over into the new week. Analysts stated that today, domestic weekly money and bank statistics, as well as news flow regarding U.S. tariffs, the Sentix investor confidence index in the Eurozone, and retail sales will be monitored, noting that technically, the support levels for the BIST 100 index are at 9,100 and 9,000, while the resistance levels are at 9,200 and 9,300 points.
