Israeli flags were hoisted at the archaeological site of the Al-Mesudiye Train Station, located within the Palestinian borders of Nablus in the West Bank, which is part of the Hejaz Railway; local Palestinian officials regarded the move as a reinforcement of control in the area.
It was reported that Israeli forces occupying Palestinian territories hung Israeli flags at the archaeological site of the El-Mesudiye Train Station located in the village of Burka, near Nablus in the West Bank. According to Haber7, this action further escalated tensions in the region.
THEY INSTALLED IRON GATES
Imad Desuki, Vice President of the Burka Village Council, stated that Israeli forces hung flags in the area and installed iron gates. Desuki noted that this step aims to "create a fait accompli to make the occupation permanent."
A PART OF PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES
Local authorities emphasized that the area where the Israeli flags were hung is part of Palestinian territories. They also claimed that farmers in the region are experiencing difficulties accessing their lands, that cultivated areas have been damaged, and that control over approximately 5,000 acres of land has passed to Israeli forces.
The El-Mesudiye Train Station is known as a branch of the historic Hejaz Railway and is a site of archaeological significance. Desuki argued that the hanging of the flags is not only a political symbolism but also "a sign of the continuation of the occupation."
