Relatives who were devastated by Karakuş's death received his body. While his wife Sakine Karakuş entered the morgue to collect the body, she couldn't hold back her tears. After the body was taken to the vehicle, Sakine Karakuş struggled to walk as she left the morgue and was assisted by two relatives. Nuri Karakuş's lifeless body was taken to Sütçüler Cemetery for burial. "I REGRET IT"The fleeing Mehmet Dönük was caught shortly after. In his first statement at the police station, Dönük said, "I had gone out to buy bread. At that moment, he confronted me with a screwdriver and asked, 'Why aren't you giving me my money?' We started cursing at each other. The argument turned into a fistfight. He hit me, and I hit him. He fell to the ground. I regret it; I wish this incident hadn't happened." After his procedures at the police station, Dönük was referred for a health check and then to the courthouse. When he exited the health check, Dönük responded to reporters' questions, "Was it worth it for 1000 TL, why did you kill him?" by saying, "I didn't kill the man. No, absolutely not, that's wrong."
