They encountered an unexpected sight in the building they entered for theft. A male corpse was found in the water-filled elevator shaft of a long-vacant building in Bahçelievler.

ENTERED FOR THEFT, FOUND A CORPSE

The incident occurred at around 22.35 on Monday, August 24, in a vacant building in Bahçelievler Siyavuşpaşa Neighborhood. According to the claim, A.E. (29), who entered the building for theft, looked into the elevator shaft while wandering inside. A.E. noticed a person lying face down and motionless in the water puddle. A.E. reported the situation to his friend İ.A. (41). Then, a report was made to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, police, health, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the building.

THE CORPSE WAS ASSESSED TO BE APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS OLD

In the check conducted by health teams, it was determined that the person found in the elevator shaft had lost their life. According to initial assessments, it was considered that the corpse was approximately 3 months old. Due to the corpse remaining in water for a long time, the teams carefully carried out the removal process. To prevent the body's integrity from being compromised, it was decided to first drain the water accumulated in the elevator shaft.

FIRE BRIGADE DRAINED THE WATER, THE CORPSE WAS REMOVED HOURS LATER

Fire brigade teams drained the water accumulated in the elevator shaft. After the work was completed, the male corpse was removed from its location hours later. Following the work of the crime scene investigation teams and the Duty Public Prosecutor, the body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue to determine the identity and exact cause of death. A.E., who found the corpse, and his friend İ.A. were released after their statements were taken. Police teams continue their investigation into the incident.

THE BUILDING HAD BEEN VACANT FOR A LONG TIME

According to the claim, a dispute arose between the owner of the completed building and the owner of the vacant plot next to it. After it was determined that the building violated the boundary of the neighboring plot, the matter was taken to court. While the building's construction was halted by a court decision, it was learned that the structure had been vacant for a long time.
